Chicago
Illinois, U.S.A. – Thursday, June 14th, 2012
Looks like this could be found in Fritz Lange's Metropolis Pigeons everywhere Feeding time Texture of a city "Miró's Chicago", by Joan Miró. Formally called "The Sun, the Moon and One Star" It's 39 feet tall, and is made of steel, wire mesh, concrete, bronze, and ceramic tile. The fork on its head is said to represent a star. Looking back across the plaza at the enormous Chicago Picasso. "The Four Seasons" by Marc Chagall, located in Chase Plaza "The Four Seasons" is a 70 foot long mosaic/mural featuring light-hearted surrealist depictions of Chicago. More pigeons in Chase Plaza "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons", by Marc Chagall Looking up the curved side of Chase Tower "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons" "The Four Seasons" Fountain in Chase Plaza Reflections of a city Advertisement or public art? "The Flamingo" by Alexander Calder; unfortunately it was obviously under renovation during our visit. Texture of a city Alexander Calder also made the Flying Dragon statue back at the North Garden of the Art Institute. Next up: "The Town-Ho's Story" by Frank Stella (information plate) Supposedly this sculpture is about a chapter in Melville's Moby Dick... I'm not sure if I see the connection to Melville, but I like it nonetheless.
